Formtastic 5.4.5 service pack 6 made available through Quadrant

Formtastic

A few weeks ago we announced that IBM i customers in the UK and Ireland could access Quadrant Software (now Fresche Solutions)’s Formtastic tool through Proximity.

Formtastic gives you the ability to create custom-designed forms, cheques and bar code labels through an easy-to-use desktop interface designer. Formtastic’s document automation solution extracts spooled data from your IBM i and inserts it into a new business form.

Quadrant has now made available Formtastic 5.4.5 service pack 6 with a number of functionality enhancements, including support for 2D barcodes, including both DataMatrix (adhering to GS1 application identifiers) and QR Codes.

Quadrant has produced a short video on the new features.

You can now also purge files and history (except the last 30 days of information) automatically by setting up ‘a WRKSBMJOB entry and call a user created CL that contains a call to FO508BR with 3 parms (‘DEFAULT’ ‘DEFAULT’ and ‘*ALL’)’.

Quadrant has also added the ability to track which users in your organisation save and restore documents. A new database file entitled FORSTDT will not only contain the job name, but also include user, job number, and document name, type of output (i.e. form or label), timestamp and if it is an addition to the current library or a replacement.

For those organisations wanting to provide additional document change management procedures, you will also be able to prevent internal users from accessing the save and restore menu options, while restricting users to *PRINT in Formtastic.

It is worth noting that existing users of Formtastic will need to apply a new security code as part of the installation process. Quadrant warns that failure to apply a new security code may result in system instabilities. You can request a new code by contacting Quadrant Tech Support on (800) 258-3399 or support@quadrantsoftware.com.
