Agenda released for i-UG February meeting

i_UG February Meeting

A couple of weeks ago, we published a blog with the schedule of i-UG meetings in 2015. Details of the agenda have now been released for the first meeting which takes place on Thursday 19th February 2015 at the Norton Grange Hotel in Rochdale.

i-UG has had a number of presentations about IBM’s Web Query tool over the last few years, but they felt it was time for a full-blown demonstration so delegates can see for ourselves the benefits of using this powerful tool through a live demonstration.

There will also be a session on 3D printing. This technology is developing so quickly and is being used in so many areas now that i-UG thought it would be really interesting to take a closer look to see if and how organisations might be able to make use of this in our own environments. A representative from Goprint3D will also be bringing along a range of 3D printers and the world’s first 3D Pen for delegates to see in action.

After lunch, delegates will be treated to another Steve Bradshaw Tech Series presentations. If you have not seen Steve present before, his sessions are always worthwhile (and entertaining) and this time he will show delegates how IBM i organisations can analyse what is going on in their systems if they feel that performance is not as good as it should be and how they can interpret that data for making decisions.

Finally, David Spurway from IBM will go through a sample Power8 server configuration, typical of many i-UG members, to explain the many benefits that can be achieved by moving to Power8 and the new hardware and software available.

As usual, Mike Ryan, i-UG Group Chairman will be the host for the day and Mike will update everyone with the group’s plans for 2015 including International i-Power 2015, which takes place on 9-10 September 2015 at the Wyboston Lakes Executive Centre – and for which Proximity will be a sponsor.

The February i-UG meeting is FREE for all paid up members to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, plus bacon rolls and other breakfast items will be available at registration which starts at 9.30am.
