DELMIAWORKS Manufacturing ERP System communication

IQMS / DELMIAWORKS customer testimonial: Riverside Refractories

Tracing it’s history all the way back to 1929, the Riverside Clay Company started its life as a supplier of clay to the Birmingham (USA) steel and foundry industry.

It has innovated and adapted to market conditions over the years, adding more and more complex refractory products to its manufacturing capabilities and adding an research and development department in the late 1970s.

In 1983, the company changed its name to Riverside Refractories.

Riverside Refractories has achieved huge levels of success using DELMIAWORKS’ manufacturing-specific ERP solution (was previously known as IQMS).

John Morris, president of Riverside Refractories, said that:

“It was really an enlightening period to have all of the different software companies come in and present what they had. DELMIAWORKS, to me, was head and shoulders above anything else that we saw. It was a great find.”

DELMIAWORKS has helped Riverside Refractories across many aspects of the business, including inventory. Prior to implementation, Morris said he:

“… would get a phone call wanting to know if we could make 200 tonnes of a certain product I would have to physically walk out to the plant and count the raw materials and make sure we had enough. Now I can just pull up IQMS (DELMIAWORKS) and have the confidence that raw materials are there.”

In 2017, Riverside Refractories was acquired by Allied Mineral Products so that they can ‘increase its manufacturing presence in the Southeast (of the US), add taphole clay to its growing line of industry-leading refractory products and expand its sales into the steel industry’.
