Controlling Costs for Electronics Manufacturers

DELMIAWORKS Manufacturing ERP System UK electronics manufacturing

DELMIAWORKS customer testimonial: National Circuit Assembly

“What National Circuit Assembly does is we print circuit board assemblies, which is the core of our business. However, we go way beyond it. We would take any electrical device and assemble it from bottom up. We’ll serve just about any customers as long as it’s electronic manufacturing.”

Gavin Subel, President

National Circuit Assembly was struggling to understand what the true costs were for each job. They did not know if they were making any money on specific projects and, if they were losing money, where in the manufacturing process they were doing so.

“Part of that issue was we didn’t know our full costs of our jobs so when we were bidding, we never knew when we completed the job that we bill it correctly, that we make money, that we lose money. And that was one of the fundamental reasons for moving to DELMIAWORKS so that we can get to know, compare actual versus budget. Are we making money, are we losing money?”

Gavin Subel, President

Since switching to the DELMIAWORKS Manufacturing ERP (which until January 2019 was known as IQMS) they can now cost effectively manage growth and profits with complete transparency into their manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Actual production costs vs budget evaluation
  • Assembly line “stoppage” and downtime analysis
  • Real-time visibility of all production lines spanning multiple geographic locations
  • More efficient scheduling of labour, materials and resources
  • Complete integration and data flow from the quote through production to financials.

“One of the things we were looking for in an ERP system was the ability to integrate all the way from the quoting module to the financials and we didn’t have that. Well, everybody can do inventory control and entering a sales order, but we need a sharp flow of control, we need a quoting integrated with that module, and then of course, we need the financial to be part of it. The other thing that we found very attractive about DELMIAWORKS was the cloud-based product because we have multiple plants. We have a plant here in Garland, Texas, which is the headquarters, then we have a plant in Austin, Texas. And we have five surface-mount lines. Here, we got three in Austin. That three in Austin are the same as three of the lines here. For some of our customer, that becomes their disaster recovery plan and part of what makes that better is being able to use the same ERP tool in the cloud and being able for them to log in and we can talk on the phone. And say, “Okay, take a look at this module right now. You see what you see there?” Okay, I need you to go ahead and release that kit and etc, etc. So that’s a great tool from IQMS.”
