Two webinars being run by BCD Software, now Fresche Solutions, and Zend will be of interest to organisations that are using PHP to develop modern web and mobile applications on the IBM i, or are starting to formulate a development and modernisation strategy and don’t know where to start.
On Tuesday 17 February 2015, Zend solution consultant, former IT Director and leading technical expert on PHP on the IBM i, Mike Pavlak will be hosting a webinar entitled ‘Simplified debugging and performance tuning of legacy apps’. The webinar focuses in particular on Z-Ray, which is included in Zend Server 8.
Zend Server is the leading enterprise-level application platform for PHP on the IBM i. Zend Server runs natively on IBM i and is available as a simple and free download.
Z-Ray provides simplified debugging and performance tuning for Zend Server. It shows developers real-time data about how web and mobile applications are consuming resources – ‘from PHP variables to DB2 for i queries to RPG program calls’.
During the webinar, Pavlak will be covering the following topics:
- An overview of Zend Server 8
- Introducing Z-Ray and how it can be used for application extensibility, mobile and API debugging, and production snapshots
- A demonstration of debugging an application using Z-Ray.
The following week, Pavlak will be involved in another webinar, this time with BCD Software (now Fresche Solutions), who provide award-winning IBM i development and mobilisation solutions.
Entitled ‘Why PHP needs to be part of your IBM i modernisation strategy’, the webinar takes place on Tuesday 24 February 2015 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm GMT. In part one of the webinar, Pavlak will look at the following:
- Why PHP is a great application modernisation choice for organisations running IBM i
- Why PHP is easy for RPG programmers to learn
- How to get started with PHP on IBM i
- How products from BCD Software and Zend can significantly reduce the application development life cycle.
In part two, BCD Software’s VP of Marketing, Marcel Sarrasin will show how a working desktop or mobile web application can be created in under an hour with BCD Software’s WebSmart PHP.
WebSmart PHP is used for creating open-source PHP applications that run on multiple platforms, including IBM i, Microsoft Windows, Linux or Unix accessing databases such as DB2, MySQL and Oracle. WebSmart PHP applications run with Zend Server if hosting on IBM i.
