Only this week, IBM reconfirmed their commitment to open source on the IBM i with some new developments announced with the latest technology refresh.
The IBM i open source development community is certainly growing fast while more and more IBM i-based companies are looking to take full advantage of all that is good about the platform with modern web and mobile development tools.
If you are looking to use PHP on the IBM i, you might be interested in a host of resources published on BCD and Quadrant Software (now know together as Fresche Solutions)’s UK partner, Proximity.
Included in the PHP on i resources are a series of guides covering how to get started with PHP, getting the most out of Zend Server (the PHP engine that comes with the IBM i and makes things happen) and deploying various open-source PHP applications on the IBM i using Zend Server.
All the guides are available to download in PDF format from the resourcesarea:
- Getting started with PHP on i
- Tips for a happy zend server on i
- Deploy secure and safe web applications
- Running open source products on your IBM i:
- Deploying Magento on IBM i using Zend server
- Deploying Drupal on IBM i using Zend server
- Deploying sugarCRM on IBM i using Zend server
- Deploying WordPress on IBM i using Zend server
More guides will be added over time, so be sure to return to their resources section on a regular basis.
