Earlier this month at International i-Power 2015 conference, Proximity’s Development Manager Pete Samways, presented a three-hour hands-on workshop entitled ‘Running open source products on your IBM i’.

International i-Power is the leading event for professionals working with the IBM i and is organised by i-UG, the only independent user group in the UK dedicated solely to the IBM i and POWER platforms.

Pete has been asked to present the same workshop at BeNeLux Power 2015, which takes place at the Hotel Van der Valk, Eindhoven, Netherlands from 21-22 October.

BeNeLux 2015 is jointly organised by COMMON Belgium, COMMON Netherlands and COMMON Luxembourg. Other notable speakers at the event include Alison Butterill, Dawn May and Pete Massiello.

In his workshop (which was rated extremely highly by attendees at International i-Power), Pete provides a practical, hands-on guide through the process of installing and running open-source PHP applications on the IBM i, including:

  • Drupal
  • Magento
  • WordPress
  • Mantis Bug Tracker
  • sugarCRM

He also includes a live install and configuration of Zend.

The workshop agenda covers the following subjects:

  • What is open source?
  • PHP for open source
  • PHP on IBM i
  • Live install of Zend Server
