IBM i application modernisation: where should you start?

IBMi modernisation where to start

On Tuesday 18 November, Tim Rowe IBM’s Architect of Application Development for IBM i and Marcel Sarrasin, Director of Marketing at BCD & Quadrant Software (now Fresche Solutions) will be hosting a webinar entitled IBM i application modernisation: where should you start?

The one-hour webinar is being run through IBM Systems magazine.

Rowe and Sarrasin will show how a well-planned IBM i application modernisation project can provide significant benefit to an organisation, especially when you make the right choices at the planning phase. Knowing where to start will reduce the scope, timeframes and cost.

Those who attend the webinar will discover:

  • Why organisations need to modernise IBM i applications
  • IBM’s continued commitment to the IBM i platform
  • What the modernisation priorities are: database, user interface, code
  • The importance of using modern tools and methodologies
  • Case study examples of organisations using BCD Software’s Presto to modernise and develop their applications.

Rowe is a regular contributor on IBM i modernisation strategies, most recently in an article, also printed in IBM Systems magazine, called ‘The Road to Modernization: IBM experts debunk common myths that hold clients back’ when he said:

“You can quickly and easily write PHP applications and run them natively on IBM i. Leverage the investment you’ve made in your hardware platform and take advantage of the support that’s already there.”
