Zend has announced a raft of new features and capabilities last week at the ZendCon conference for developing mobile applications with PHP, including updates for IBM i developers.
Zend Studio 12 now includes support for three open source frameworks for building mobile and web applications: Apache Cordova, Ionic, AngularJS and a fully working and customisable sample mobile application with source code.
IBM i developers will now be able to access an XMLService Toolkit in-built library to help them to extend PHP code to IBM i resources that includes making both RPG and COBOL program calls, accessing DB2/400 and data queues, using native system APIs and accessing spool files.
Zend Studio 12 now also supports PHP 5.6.
Michel Gerin, Zend Development Tools General Manager said:
“Developers know that to mobilize is to innovate. They also know that building an API-connected mobile app requires a full stack of components, platforms and servers talking with each other while developers work on the front-end business logic.”
ZendCon also provided an opportunity for the organisation to release information about Zend Server 8 with new Z-Ray capabilities. The latest version of Z-Ray provides developers with greater insight into several popular applications, including:
- Magento
- WordPress
- Drupal
- Zend Framework
- Symfony
- IBM i
