About the Company

Core financial system modernisation

A leading financial services organisation, which operates in the wealth and asset management sector, relies on Paladign as their core financial services application built in RPG on IBM i. The organisation needed a trusted supplier with the appropriate skills and accreditations to maintain, manage and modernise the solution. Paladign underpins every aspect of the organisation’s operation — from daily batch processing and investment fund launches to user enquiries and reporting.

Why Proximity?

With extensive experience in IBM i application managed services and a proven methodology backed by our ISO 27001 certification and Cyber Essential Plus accreditation, Proximity was selected for our technical depth, structured delivery, and flexibility to scale IBM i developer resources. Having already delivered successful cover services for another organisation using Paladign, Proximity was well placed to provide a low-risk transition and deliver ongoing IBM i support with confidence.

Our Approach

Proximity delivered a fully managed IBM i application support and development service, built around clear SLAs, structured onboarding, and a multi-skilled team to ensure continuity. We began with a detailed discovery phase to understand the business, its systems, and the challenges faced. Working closely with the existing IBM i team, we captured and documented key knowledge before introducing Fresche’s X-Analysis to gain deeper insight into the application code and support future modernisation. Following a soft go-live, we provided a three-month hypercare phase to ensure a smooth transition and minimise risk.

The Service

Under our SLA-backed managed service, Proximity now provides IBM i application support, issue resolution, and data investigations; batch job monitoring; configuration and release management; and scalable IBM i development services for enhancements to Paladign and new functionality. In addition to structured ticketing, prioritisation, monthly performance reporting, and escalation procedures for critical incidents. Proximity also provides assistance with time-critical development launches and UAT support with options for Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and out-of-hours support too, ensuring Paladign remains aligned with the organisation’s operational and compliance needs.
