Tom Grigg looks at Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) / Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) in DELMIAWORKS

Learn what MES software is, and how DELMIAWORKS use MES as part of the manufacturing process.

This video is for anyone running a manufacturing plant. In the video, Tom Grigg, Solutions Architect at Proximity, answers your questions about MES:

What does MES stand for in manufacturing?

In the manufacturing sector, MES stands for Manufacturing Execution Software. This type of software may also be referred to as Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM).

What does MES do?

Manufacturing Execution Software is a software solution that can help manufacturers to monitor exactly what’s taking place on the shop floor. A good MES system will track things like:

  • The speed machines are working at
  • The efficiency of machines
  • Whether machines are running on time or behind schedule
  • If a machine is down or broken

MES can also help you to understand exactly what employees are doing at any given time, to make sure goals are always aligned with the business.

What type of businesses need MES?

A MES system would be helpful for large manufacturers, with multiple machines on their shop floor and lots of employees – maybe even across multiple plants. A system like DELMIAWORKS (formerly known as IQMS) allows you to easily monitor all that information, giving you a thorough understanding of exactly what’s taking place on the shop floor.

Hi, I’m Tom Grigg from Proximity Enterprise Solutions

I’m just going to talk for a couple of minutes to you about Manufacturing Execution Systems

So, many of you have large businesses, that have multiple machines on the shop floor, lots of employees.

Maybe you’ve struggled to track exactly what’s taking place. How fast your machines are working, how efficient they are, whether they’re down, whether they’re running on time, or running slow.

The same goes for your employees, to understand exactly what they’re doing, to make sure that your goals are always the same.

Now, we can actually monitor all this information using DELMIAWORKS, so that we can get an understanding of exactly what is taking place on the shop floor.

This is called a Manufacturing Execution System or MOM which is Manufacturing Operations Management.

If this sounds like a problem that you’ve encountered in your business then please feel free to get in touch and let’s see how we can help you.

Thank you!
